Today we are gonna be talking about standing up & standing firm when you know you are right. Or what I like to call “Holding ya Nuts”. I tell a riveting story of an experience that happened to me while I was in the Marines stationed in San Diego California.
Question: How many men out there have cowed down or backed down off an argument, some battle, or some conflict when you were the one who was right. Then after you did so, you felt horrible inside that you did. I believe conflicts like these are crossroads for Men, a testing ground to see which road you will take when shit gets uncomfortable.
And I think the Gods sit and watch and say “will he go left, or will he go right.”
Im a Malcom X Man myself, but I did like when MLK said “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”
So I wanna share with you a challenging time where I had to stand up, and stand firm, and remain while facing controversy.
The time was Spring 2008, I was a corporeal (E-4) in the Marines, I had just gotten to my 2nd duty station which was San Diego Cali. So at this point remember, I was already a corporeal and I hadnt been in 3 years yet, my 3 year mark wasn until later that fall. But I was due to pick up Seargent next Month. And for anybody that doesn’t know, that’s extremely fast. Thats like starting as a freshman in college, or a rookie in the NBA. Or in a corporation setting that would be like making director in like 3 yrs…….Listen to the show to get the full story.

The other half of the show I give you 2 excellent principles to take away.
The major one is ‘Knowing Your Rights’ vs ‘Standing on your rights’. And learning that these are 2 different things.
There are 2 parts to freedom. Many people wrongly only tell you to know your rights. But that’s only half of the solution, the other half, and the most important half is you have to be able to stand on your rights.
In fact here’s a Cosmo-ism, “The only rights you have, are the one’s you are willing to stand on”. Otherwise you have no rights.
No one can give you rights, if you allow someone to give you your rights, that gives them the ability to take them away when they see fit.
People say that the constitution gives you your rights, no it doesn’t, it states the rights God gave you.
Men don’t give rights, God does!
The epitome of Manhood is when a Man stands on his rights. And you’re not a man until you demonstrate so.
And once they knew that I was a Man to stand on my rights, that nothing they did could scare me, that’s when they knew they had to really really keep a close eye on me. They already would watch me, and follow my moves, because they knew I was very persuasive, convincing and a leader. Because I always spoke the truth, and there is one thing about the truth, its very convincing!
I went on a 30 day recruiting duty when I was a corporeal and recruited like 3 people immediately. So they knew I had the ability to convince people.
But after I stood up for myself, and called the inspector General personally, they knew I wasn’t afraid of shit! Which Is partially the reason why I have been blacklisted from getting employment since I got out of the Marines. I also had a friend tell me that the govt threatened him not associate to closely with me. Essentially its isolation. They don’t want the spirit of courage to spread. Because their whole gimmick is fear. But im not the body, I have a body.
This system becomes very angry and frustrated when they cant get their way with who they want you to become. Of course As A Marine They wanted me to be fearless, but only when they say its okay, against Al Qaeda, Isis, Bin Laden, etc.
But No! You remain fearless with everyone, 24/7, all the time. Choices!
