You may not know it, but you might be a spiritual messenger. Yes You!
But because our modern culture doesn’t have a place or mainstream field for the spiritual leader archetype many people who grow up outside indigenous villages are spiritual leaders, spiritual teachers, and spiritual healers and don’t even know it.
Spiritual healers exist within every society, however in Western society they are not giving a template or an avenue to allow their gifts to be given to the rest of the society.
Many naturally wind up in overtly healing professions, such as medicine, psychology, or life coaching. But usually most wind up in professions where they feel like they don’t fit in at all. If so, this is a good sign! Because you are not suppose to fit in. Keep reading I will explain below.
Even those who enter the healing professions may feel out of place, because the systems of Western medicine and psychology leave little room for a Spiritual Leaders to practice his or her natural healing arts. You may not know it, but you might be a spiritual messenger. Here are some telltale signs that you might fit the role of Spiritual Leader/Teacher/Healer.
1. You’ve been through a difficult initiation, which has prepared you for this leadership role.
In indigenous cultures, the village knew who the Spiritual Healer was because he or she was struck by lightning and survived. He or she died at birth, and was brought back to life. Or a host of similar ordeals. In modern culture, you may not literally be struck by lightning, but you may have survived some other life or heart-threatening ordeal or debacle. You may have experienced childhood abuse, sexual violence, a near-death experience, or some other trauma that put you through the crucible, through the fire, and forged you into the Earth healing physician that you are becoming.
2. You feel a sort of spiritual calling to ease the suffering of people, animals, and nature.
You like helping people because it’s just great to see other people happy, and to let them know that someone actually does care about them (or their problems). You may have a non-profit, or have always thought about starting one. Or as a child may have always liked helping others. This includes donating, feeding the poor, activism, hospital work, or conservation of Mother Earth.
3. You gaze at the stars
Fascinated by something greater than you are, their is no creation as mysterious and beautiful as the stars. You can’t help but feel awe and inspiration when staring into the cosmos which is truly is a reflection of the light within you.
4. You strive to detach from Drama
Gossip, worry, stress, and violence among many lower-vibration patterns keep one wrapped up in the ego, away from the true self, and more importantly, away from more fulfilling activities and the source of all energy. Ever feel drained when you’re around an individual who wants to dump their problems on you, intimidate, or interrogate you? This is an example of an energetic vampire, and a clear picture of what happens when one is not connected to the true source of Energy, which you could call God. If you’re naturally seeking a way out of DRAMAtic settings and looking for higher energy activities that leave you feeling happy, at peace, restored, and refreshed, then this is a big clue that you would make a great Spiritual Leader.
5. You feel most at home in nature.
The Healers and Spiritual Teachers of a culture are the bridges between nature and humans, serving as translators between the mountains, oceans, rivers, animals, and people. You prefer the great outdoors and activities such as hiking, camping, hunting, and the ocean. You may sense that nature is talking to you or that you get your most tuned in downloads and updates when you are surrounded by the natural world. If so, you have spiritual proclivities and may have a Spiritual calling awaiting your acceptance.
6. You sense that you’re meant to participate in the current global shift in consciousness that is currently underway.
The Planet is changing rapidly, transformation is happening everyday, everything is speeding up, we can all feel it. This is the shift that New Agers have talked about for decades. But those who fit the role of Spiritual Leader don’t just think it, or read about it, they feel it pulling them, like a magnet, towards helping others, and they can start to see themselves in leadership positions (of household, village, community, group) that help facilitate this transformation of human consciousness and evolution of the species.
7. You tend to have vivid dreams.
The unseen realm may be communicating with you through your dreams, so take 5 minutes after you wake up to analyze your dreams. Pay particular attention to any animal totems that may appear in your dreams. Google search the animal and “spirit totem” and see if you can find any messages from the animals in your dreams.
8. Travel is appealing
If your heart is passionate for travel, in a way you feel called to experience others cultures or gain a better understanding of others ways of life then then this is a clue that you would make a great Spiritual Leader. Whatever reason you feel guided to venture into unknown lands, meet unknown faces, and do unknown things, to you it’s a calling which resonates in a place which cannot be easily communicated.
9. You may discover unusual spiritual superpowers, or what the yogis call “Siddhis.”
You might be psychic. Have extra sensory perception. Have Precognition which gives you the ability to predict future events. Clairvoyance, enhanced intuition, clairaudience, telepathy and other powers. You might realize that you can heal people with your hands or that you can telepathically communicate with animals, people, or even inanimate objects. If so, then this is a big clue that your calling is a Spirit worker and healer.
10. You’re very sensitive.
You may feels things others don’t feel, see things others don’t see, hear things others don’t hear, smell things others don’t smell, and sense things others don’t sense. This may make it hard for you to be out in public, where you may feel an over-stimulation of your senses. If you embody the Spiritual Teacher role, it’s likely that you’re the kind of person others may feel is “too sensitive.” Or you “care too much.” But this sensitivity is a blessing. It’s part of your gift in order to be able to understand others problems so that you can solve their issues and repair their spirit.
11. You’ve always felt like an outsider, like you didn’t quite belong anywhere.
Healers and teachers tend to live on the outskirts of the village for a reason. They are not like the others – and this is a blessing! Its because they are the middle ground between the spirit world and the physical world, therefore they truly do not fit in on either side. In village life, this is understood and recognized. But in the modern world, it may leave those who are spiritually inclined and intelligent feeling like they don’t ever fit in. But don’t despair. You DO fit in. In fact you are the most important piece to the puzzle. You make the grand scheme of things (the bigger picture) operate how its suppose to. Your role is essential. Embrace your weirdness if this is you.
When I realized that I was a bridge between mainstream affairs (physical) and the New World of an increased global spiritual presence and awakening, it brought me such a profound sense of relief! Yes it can be lonely, disheartening, quite challenging or even scary to remain with your spiritual half in tact living in a world where we place such an extreme amount (nearly 100%) focus on material-physical things. However, it’s a blessing to have the opportunity to help people heal, to help people become better beings, to fulfill our callings and to bring the 2 worlds together. “Life is too short to be normal. Stay weird.”
